Erie Township Community Recreation Plan Community Planning Workshop
On January
3, 2018, Erie Township will host a community planning workshop to consider
potential projects to be included in an updated 5-year Recreation Plan. This workshop will be held at the Erie
Township Hall at 7:30 PM. The Erie
Township Parks Commission has been working toward developing an updated
Recreation Plan for several months. A
5-year Recreation Plan is necessary to maintain eligibility for grants
available from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The existing plan was adopted in early 2013
and will soon expire.
The workshop
will include discussions about the need to update goals and objectives, along
with the need to update the action plan that identifies projects and potential
improvements to the local recreation system.
All residents are invited to attend this workshop and contribute
thoughts and ideas about how existing recreation facilities can be further
developed to meet changing needs, or how new facilities can be provided to meet
new needs. This workshop will be
collaborative in nature and fresh and creative ideas are welcome.
After this
workshop, the Recreation Commission will meet again on January 10th
to finalize a first draft of an updated Recreation Plan. The draft plan will be made available for
additional public comment soon after, and then will formally be considered by
the Erie Township Trustees in February.
